Technology has become an enormous factor in our lives. People are increasingly being given the opportunity to work from home. Each year, we seem to find ourselves overwhelmingly reliant on the electronic devices in our homes and businesses. Electricians, consequently, serve as one of the primary pillars in our society! Just think about what would happen if the electricity went out in your city for a couple of weeks or even just a few days. There would be chaos around every corner.

You might not think of an electrical career as the most enterprising path. However, becoming an electrician brings more versatility and growth opportunities than you might think. You can do anything from light residential work through an electrician company to work as an in-house electrician for a large corporation or even become your own boss and start a business. No matter your goals, there's a place for you.

As technology advances and evolves, an electrician's work must follow. Learning new skills, being able to adapt to new environments, and developing strong communication skills will always be an enormous part of the gig. This constant demand allows electricians to have enjoyable, flexible, and rewarding jobs. It's the perfect career for anyone looking to learn a valuable skill with incredible benefits. So what should you do to get started?

IBEW is one of the most credible electrical unions in the United States. Established in the late 1800s, the union has a long history of fighting for workers' rights, safe working conditions, and proper compensation. Nowadays, the IBEW does much more than that. They have excellent facilities for training and apprenticeship programs. Even better, no prior experience is required to get started! As an aspiring electrician, this could be an excellent opportunity to take that first step. But first, you need to ask yourself a couple of questions.

  • Do you understand IBEW's mission and feel confident that being a part of the union is the right choice for you?
  • Are you interested in the growth potential and opportunities of an electrical career and want to learn and improve your skills in a trade?
  • Would you like to pursue a long career as an electrician and become the most skilled you can be while providing exceptional results to your clients?

If you answered yes to all three questions above, an IBEW apprenticeship could be a great way to kick start your career!

The application is simple. You must produce a high school transcript, a letter of recommendation, and be eighteen years or older. Due to the nature of the job, you will also be

required to have a decent understanding of math. Therefore, your transcripts must reflect a minimum score of C in algebra. So if you're still in high school, get to studying! If you succeed in providing these documents, you will then have to complete an entrance math exam and an interview.

Once enrolled, you will have access to incredible learning resources and training opportunities to get you ahead of the game. You want to get the most out of your apprenticeship while you're there. So work hard, ask questions and make connections with the professionals and fellow apprentices you meet. The beginning of your career is at your fingertips, so don't hesitate.
